All students at Yarra Primary School study Japanese one session a week. Our teaching approach is based on fun learning whereby students can enjoy rich cultural experiences through a wide range of activities such as singing song, playing games, making origami, cooking simple Japanese foods, speaking performances, reading and writing Japanese letters as well as Japanese writing calligraphy.
In addition, Lunchtime Japanese club is held once every week in the library. Students will participate in Japanese Cultural event such as Japanese Cultural Day, students’ performance at the school assembly and Japanese incursion. Senior students also explore Japanese school life by interacting with students in our sister school, Chatan Elementary School, in Okinawa, through Skype lessons and letter exchange.
We believe in encouraging students understanding cultural diversity through Japanese language!
Let’s enjoy Japanese! にほんごを たのしみましょう！
